Love Buttons in Local Produce, 2008

In a further play on the notion of buying and selling love, and in exploration of an ambivalence about the commoditication of both art and life, Gregory Sale next crossed into the private arena of a commercial gallery by including the Love Buttons work in Local Produce at Lisa Sette Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ, July through October. For the opening that was set to coincide with the Summer Spectacular Artwalk, the Love Buttons work spilled out onto the street. Thousands of buttons carried out into an evening of art openings by individuals wearing them. This participatory event was co-sponsored by Scottsdale Public Art.
